Leah's Surgery

Leah had her tonsils and adenoids removed earlier this week and she did a great job.  She had a bit of a hard time waking up from anesthesia, but what kid doesn't.  The surgery only took a few minutes and we were able to go back to see her right away.  I climbed into the bed with her and just held her for 20 minutes while she cried.  Once she calmed down we got to take her home. 

I think Leah has a high pain tolerance, she dealt with the pain really well.  She did not want to take medicine and instead when it hurt she would just go to sleep.  Day 3 and 4 were suppose to be the worst and Leah pretty much just slept all day and night.  The hardest part for her is not being able to eat "the hard 'fings'!"  (chips and crackers)  She just keeps asking if we can take her back and have the doctor put her tonsils back in. overall she has done great!

Leah Preschool

Today was the last day of preschool for Leah.  She has learned so much this year and has made some great friends.  She loves her teacher, Miss Wendy, and all the kids in her class.  Thanks Miss Wendy for a great year!  She is really going to miss them over the summer, but I am excited that I get her all to myself for a few months.

Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day because it is a day that I celebrate my children and the fact that I have children.  For many years this was a holiday that I loathed!  Now I have two of the most beautiful and loving girls that I get to spend every day with.  I also have an amazing mother that I get to honor on this day.  I have learned so much from my mother and she is one of the most supportive moms I know.  Love you mom!

Now for a little entertainment!  Here is a paper that Leah filled out at church today that is all about me.  The best part is that most of it is pretty accurate!  Apparently I am not a very good cook.

Birth Mother's Day

Although not well known, the day before Mother's Day is Birth Mother's Day.  We have a tradition in our home that we started because we do not know Leah's birth mother and we wanted to be able to still honor her.  We take the girl's shopping and they pick out flowers that they get to bring home and plant in honor of their birth mothers.  We always want to make sure our girls understand just how important their birth mothers are to us and to them.  We pray that they will have great relationships with them and be just as grateful to them as Travis and I are. To their birth mothers...we love you and pray for you daily!  We are eternally grateful for the love you have for these girls and for giving us the opportunity to be parents. 

Kenzie's Baby Blessing & 7 Months Old

Now that Kenzie's adoption has been finalized we were able to have her blessed at church.  My mom and Ron, Travis' parents, and my sister Amber and her family were all able to come into town for it.  It was so nice to have family here to experience it with us.  My friend Rainey made a beautiful dress for Kenzie and she was absolutely gorgeous in it.  Thanks Rainey!!

Kenzie also turned 7 months old on the 3rd so we decided to do her pictures in her dress.  She is now rolling everywhere, sitting up for a few seconds, and has two teeth on the bottom.

Leah and Kenzie's visit to Utah

Five days before going to Hawaii the girls and I loaded up the car and drove to Utah for Collin's (my nephew) wedding.  A few days later I drove back by myself and left the girls in Utah with family while we went to Hawaii.  It was so hard to leave them there knowing I would not see them for almost two weeks!  We got back from Hawaii late Monday night and Travis' parents drove the girls back on Saturday.  Initially we thought it would be great to have a few days to recover from vacation and to get a lot of things done, but after spending the first day back in a quiet house we were so ready to have them home.

The girls had so much fun in Utah and Leah had so much to tell us when she got home.  They spent time with Travis' parents, Uncle Braeden, My mom and Ron, and Uncle Craig and Aunt Angie and their kids Aubree, Sadie, and Jake.  Here are a few things the girls did:
